April 30: Letter to the New York Times Editor

Our Program's founder Dr. Leonid Poretsky, along with our Program's psychiatrist Dr. Shervin Shadianloo, wrote a Letter to the Editor of the New York Times objecting to how their columnist characterizes people of transgender experience and the doctors who support their wellbeing. The letter was published in print and online.

 

Our Program's Director, Dr. Minghao Liu, presented at the 2021 Philadelphia Trans Wellness Conference on July 23.

Dr. Liu presented the medical literature on the use of progestogens in transfeminine care, which has been a hot topic in the medical community, and hosted an open Q&A discussion during this ProTrack session.

 

Our team presented "Three Days of Health with the Friedman Transgender Program for Health and Wellness" in partnership with NYC Pride's 2021 Human Rights Conference on June 21, 22 and 23:

Our Program Coordinator Deeangelys Colon presented at a Pride Month Panel Event on June 30, along with Play Out Apparel, Select Health, Latino Commission on Aids, Oasis Latino L.G.B.T. S Wellness Center, Trans New York, and Pride For Youth to discuss issues facing the trans community, educate, and celebrate.

 

Our Program Coordinator Deeangelys Colon was featured in a Northwell Health profile celebrating World Pride in June 2019.

Always ahead of her time, this self-described “bohemian rhapsody child” is helping lead the way on raising the standard of health care for transgender patients and the entire LQBTQIA+ community. As a founding staff member of our Program, she works with patients to get them the compassionate, comprehensive care they deserve.

 

Dr. Leonid Poretsky and Dr. James P. Bradley convene the first virtual Friedman Transgender Care Conference, with Lenox Hill Hospital Northwell Health, on October 30, 2020.

Dr. James P. Bradley and his team were the first to show that public perception in the form of crowd sourcing verified that less mis-gendering occurs following facial feminization surgery:  “Facial Feminization Surgery Changes Perception of Patient Gender,” Aesthetic Surgery Journal, 40(7) · November 2019.

Lenox Hill Hospital’s Division of Endocrinology – led by Dr. Leonid Poretsky, Chief of Endocrinology - was ranked #9 nationally for Diabetes & Endocrinology in US News and World Report, July 30, 2019. 

 

Dr. James P. Bradley and his team were the first to show that artificial intelligence gender identification demonstrated the success of facial feminization surgery: “Facial Recognition Neural Networks Confirm Success of Facial Feminization Surgery,” Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery 145(1):1, October 2019.

 
 

The Friedman Transgender Program, Dr. Natalie Cusano, PI, was awarded a grant for “Transgender Health Aging Study  and Registry,” New York State Department of Health Empire Clinical  Research Program (ECRIP). Mentor (Lenox Hill Hospital).

 

Dr. James P. Bradley and his team were the first to show that using virtual surgical planning for facial feminization surgery allows for more efficient, more accurate, and safer care: “Osseous Transformation with Facial Feminization Surgery: Improved Anatomical Accuracy with Virtual Planning,” Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery 144(5):1, August 2019.
